A load of blogs

Not for the first time, I have started a new blog – my Facebook Research Blog. The idea with it will be a lot more specific than any I’ve started previously: rather than my inane ramblings about nothing in particular, it’ll be focussed solely on psychological research concerned with Facebook, of which there isn’t much, but it is increasing. I find it all very interesting, both professionally and personally, though the less said about the latter, the better …

I’m in the airport in Paris, waiting for a connection to Budapest. Everyone’s speaking French, and mine is terribly rusty. All I can think of is Catherine Tate and her vaguely racist sketches.

How did I end up here? Malev over-booked my flight this morning and offered to put me on a later one, connecting through Paris. Plus €400 compensation. Result.

Still can’t believe I’m blogging in an airport on wifi etc. Feels like such a ‘nerd’!

PS the Heineken is over-priced but worth it!

Correspondence

There’s no point in me beating about the bush on this one: I am absolutely terrible at replying to emails. Days, weeks, months – years even – can slip by before I get around responding. I don’t know how other people do it. Facebook too, I’m bloody awful.

I do try, honestly I do, but as time goes by, and I come in contact with more people, my problem increases exponentially. (This isn’t an apology, by the way, nor an excuse, just an explanation). And there’s no selectivity to it – it’s everyone, from old friends, to new acquaintances, colleagues – the lot.

It might have something to do with being a teacher, and erstwhile writer – I do like to have my text ‘just so’, and correspondence falls precisely in that category. I can’t hurry it, or it’ll end up wrong.

How do I blog then? Narcissism, and safety in the belief that no-one reads it!

And finally

I added another blog. Not exactly where I want it to be yet, but it’s getting there. So I did a few things of interest today, and also arranged a select committee for next week. In the pub.

I also had my dinner and tidied my room. I’m feckin’ great so I am.

Plotting

If you haven’t had a look at my new website yet, then don’t. It’s only half-done, and I really want to improve it.

But I must admit, even though the hosting has been a bit jakey, I don’t regret signing up. There’s so much to learn, and so many features, it’s been very interesting. I will have another blog up shortly, and am considering all kinds of intrigues and devices …

My new laptop arrived (using it at the moment), and while I’m very pleased, it took a while to get it on the internet. Everything else was very easy – all installed from the outset.
So that’s been ok, though I do feel slightly idiotic with two laptops on my desk – and both on! – at the same time. It’s been handy for fiddling around with this blog, updating and the like, but I’m not sure what I’ll do with the old one now.

Anyway, the point is, I’m wrecked and hungry, and with a splitting headache. Enough for one day? for a while at least.

… or at least a new blog! along with a website, this heralds a new age in egocentrism
